Guide to Life in Quebec
Climate
With a climate typical of northern
climbs, winter conditions in Quebec can be severe. Fortunately the residents are geared up for the temperature
slide and there are plenty of activities on offer all year round. There are a
number of winter festivals, in addition to those held in the summer, and
leisure facilities and housing are all adapted to conditions which can vary
from -25°C in winter to +25°C
in summer. In Montreal there is even a huge underground shopping centre which allows residents to
escape from the cold!
Administration
Government in Quebec is represented at three levels: the federal (Canadian) government, the provincial government and municipal councils.
Quebec also elects
commissioners to sit on the school boards. School boards administer the school
system within the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education, Sport and
Leisure.
