The United States-India Educational Foundation and US immigration officials advised students wishing to study in the US should apply early for the US visas so they have time to prepare properly for their interview.

Jessica Pfleiderer, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the US, stressed the need for coming well prepared to the US visa interview.

"Applying early for US visa is the key to ensure a hassle free process for the students, who want to study in the United States," said Pfleiderer about the immigration process. She also added that the peak season for US student visa applications is from April to July. Therefore, if the applicants apply early, they will have more time to prepare for the interview.

"We give more emphasis on knowing the person through interview, rather than what is given on the documents. Thus, the applicant must come prepared for the interview," she added.

Pfleiderer also warned student visa applicants to submit only real documents as presenting fake documents can make you permanently ineligible for a US visa and unable to immigrate to the US

In order to make the US visa application process easier for all Indians, the US Embassy in New Delhi and Consulate General in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai are now accepting visa applications from across India at all visa facilities, regardless of the applicants' home address or city of residence.
