Citizenship and Immigration Canada is set to visit Malaysian cities this month to encourage Malaysian students to emigrate to Canada to study.

Canadian immigration officers will be present at all of the fairs to provide information on student visa applications for Canada. There will also be representatives from Canadian universities to answer student's questions about the University admission requirements.

The free fairs will be in Kuala Lumpur 11-12 February, Kota Kinabalu 15 February, and Kuching 17 February. Students, parents, teachers and counsellors can also attend the fairs to learn more about Canadian study options.

"Canada offers consistently high-quality, affordable education and internationally recognised credentials in over 10,000 study programmes," said the Canadian High Commission in Malaysia.

In 2010, more than 200,000 international students from more than 160 countries immigrated to Canada to study a variety of programmes including engineering, business, actuarial sciences, biotechnology, and computer science. Many overseas students on student visas in Canada apply to remain under the Canadian skilled worker immigration category or under a Canadian provincial nominee program.
