Following September’s Tier 2 visa allocation meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for October stands at just 2,870, according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its September report citing that its figures were correct as of 15 September, 2016.
Sanwar Ali, Editor of workpermit.com News reviews the UK Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence and Tier 2 Visa System:
Under the somewhat bureaucratic UK Immigration Tier 2 Visa and Tier 2 Sponsorship licence system it is difficult employing people from outside the EU. There have bene a number of complaints that the Home Office has treated UK employers unfairly and unjustly under the Tier 2 visa system. The system is extremely biased and very unfair. Employers are in a constant state of fear wondering whether they will be able to keep their Tier 2 Sponsorship licence and continue to employ people from outside the EU on Tier 2 Visas.
An employer with a Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence needs to apply for what is called restricted Certificates of Sponsorship (CoSs) for immigrants they wish to employ from outside the UK. Under the current UK immigration system, unused Tier 2 restricted CoS to employ people who are currently based outside the UK can be reclaimed after three months. This increases the availability of restricted CoSs for employers.
The September Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship allocation meeting took place on 12 September. All valid applications lodged by 5 September were successful, provided they scored 21 points or more.
