A recent survey by the European Tourism Association (ETOA) has found that 85% of tourism companies find the Tier 2 visa application process 'difficult to impossible'.

People often migrate to the UK using a Tier 2 visa for skilled workers, allowing them to work for a Tier 2 Sponsorship License holding UK employer. However, the system is complex, which is why thousands of people have asked for Workpermit.com's help in their Tier 2 applications.

Tier 2 process often difficult

Over 100 companies, which employ a total of 35,000 people, responded to the survey about the potential impact of Brexit on the UK's tourism industry. Only 16% of these said they'd tried to recruit workers on a Tier 2 visa, due to difficulties with the application process.

85% of those who had tried said the process was 'difficult to impossible', while 80% said the industry would face a substantial drop in productivity if the Tier 2 was expanded to cover the employment of EU nationals due to Brexit.

Tier 2 problems could cause 20% of tourism companies to leave UK post-Brexit

Tom Jenkins, CEO of the ETOA, says that 20% of UK tourism companies are considering relocating if their worst fears about Brexit come to pass.

“(T)he greatest problem at the moment is uncertainty. Part of ETOA’s membership is optimistic about the situation, a greater proportion is very pessimistic, but the greatest proportion are extremely concerned. Brexit may radically affect their ability to function as a business, but they are hoping, if not for the best, at least for something which is not catastrophically bad,” said Jenkins.
