1. Age Assessment - 20 points (maximum)

You can claim points if you are under 32 years of age:

27 or under - 20 points
28 or 29 - 10 points
30 or 31 - 5 points
32 and over - 0 points
2) Qualifications. You will gain points as follows:
- Bachelors degree - 30 points
- Masters degree - 35 points
- Doctoral degree - 50 points
- Professional Qualifications - Based on Equivalency to above UK Qualifications
4) Earning power
This is linked to your country of residence (earnings do not include passive investment income but do usually include dividends from a company if you work for it or have founded it). Your earnings should not include passive investment income, but could include income from a company that you founded or work for. You will see further details of the points score for each income level and Country Category below:

- £18,000 per annum = 10 Points

UK Experience - 5 Points (Maximum)
You can gain five points under the following circumstances:
You gain points under the past earnings category and your earnings were in the UK.
or
You have studied and graduated at Bachelors degree or higher in full time education in the UK or at a UK based overseas educational institution for at least one academic year.
English Language Ability
You need to have a bachelors degree that was taught in English (not a Masters degree or PhD).
or
You need to possess an International English Language Testing System qualification at least at Band 6 less than two years old.
8) Other Requirements

If you do not qualify under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme, there are other options available to you
- Work Permit programme - if you have a job offer from a UK company which wants to employ you in a role for which it can not find an EU national, you may be able to get an employer sponsored work permit.
- Innovator programme - if you have an original business idea, especially one in the technology sector, you may be able to come to the UK to set up in business.
