Tier 2 - Switching from another scheme

Switching into the General, Sports People and MInister of Religion Categories of Tier 2 is allowed for those people who were last granted leave as:

• A Tier 1 migrant
• A Tier 2 migrant
• A highly skilled mIgrant (under HSMP)
• An innovator
• A Jewish Agency Employee
• A member of the operational ground staff of an overseas-owned airline
• A Minister of Religion, a Missionary or a Member of a Religious Order
• An overseas Qualified Nurse or Midwife
• A Participant in Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland scheme
• A participant in the International Graduates Scheme (IGS) or its predecessor, the Science and Engineering Graduate scheme
• A person writing up a thesis
• A postgraduate doctor or dentist
• A qualifying work permit holder
• A representative of an overseas newspaper, news agency or broadcasting organisation
• A student
• A student nurse
• A student re-sitting an examination
• A Student Union sabbatical officer

Switching into the Intra Company Transfer Category of Tier 2 is allowed for those people who were last granted leave as:

• A work permit holder granted leave as an intra company transferee and still working for the same employer
