UK National Health Service needs Indian Doctors on Tier 2 Visas
Amid a growing shortage of General Practitioners (GPs), the UK's National Health Service (NHS) is looking to recruit more Indian doctors on Tier 2 visas to plug the gaps.
The employment and training department of the NHS, Health Education England (HEE), has signed a 'memorandum of understanding' with Indian-based, Apollo Hospitals.
The UK government has given HEE the task of increasing GP numbers by 5,000 by 2020, but the department has already failed to reach targets for GP training. The agreement struck with Apollo Hospitals in India could see hundreds more doctors coming to Britain, provided they can pass rigorous tests.
According to a report published in daily UK newspaper The Telegraph, Oxford University had warned that the mounting workload of GPs – which has increased by 16 per cent over the last seven years – was 'unsustainable.'
Ireland needs UK social workers and skilled workers on visas
According to a report published by the Irish Times, Tusla – the Irish Government's Child and Family Agency in Ireland – is looking to recruit social workers from the UK and Canada. Canadian citizens will need work visas. British citizens can work freely in Ireland. The recruitment drive comes as the agency looks to fill 102 job vacancies to tackle a backlog of child protection cases in Ireland.
The latest figures in relation to child protection cases show that 5,987 (dropping from 6,718 as of the end of 2015) children were waiting to be assigned a social worker as of January 2016. 956 of the cases were classified as 'high priority.'

Expand Canada temporary work visas says Chamber of Commerce
A Chamber of Commerce based in Ontario, Canada has urged the Canadian government to expand the country's temporary worker program by creating a special visa that would enable high-growth companies to attract international management talent more easily.
Executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, Rory Ring, said: "We need to import the special skills needed to manage companies that are growing 10 times faster than normal."
Ring is calling for an expansion to Canada's temporary worker visa program in order to facilitate the quick recruitment of foreign managers for companies experiencing exponential growth. He said that across Sault Ste. Marie – a city on the St Mary's River in Ontario – there's a skills gap among local companies looking to commercialize products for the global market.
