US Immigration – Trump loves Muslims!

As long as they make money for him.

It's no secret that US Republican Presidential Candidate, Donald Trump, is a racist. Much of his election campaign has focused on a hard-line and somewhat extreme US immigration policy: he wants to see Muslims banned from entering the country. However, in an apparent contradiction to his apparent 'Islamophobia', he depends on Muslims to make him money.

Reports recently emerged that Donald Trump's business ventures, in predominantly Muslim-majority nations, are expanding. According to Public Radio International (PRI) - a global non-profit media company – Trump has opened a real estate development project in Dubai at a cost of $6 billion. However, with increasing resentment in the Muslim World to his anti-muslim policies he may in future have difficulties in expanding his empire in that part of the World.

The development, which it is claimed is one of the most exclusive addresses in Dubai, is said to include over 100 villas that overlook a massive golf course. Dean Obeidallah, a Muslim comic and writer for The Daily Beast, said: "Donald Trump will make money from anyone. He's not fussed where he's getting his money from."

Investments in other Muslim nations planned

Obeidallah claims that Trump has his eye on several other Muslim nations in which to open up luxury resorts, with Qatar and Saudi Arabia said to be on his list. Obeidallah said: "So, despite making the banning of Muslims one of the focal points of his US immigration policy, he clearly has no issue taking money from followers of Islam."

Anti-Trump

However, despite Trump's anti-Muslim stance when it comes to US immigration, Obeidallah said that he is pleased to see that members of Trump's own party – the Republicans – and also Democrats as well have openly and publicly criticised his anti-Muslim rhetoric.

However, Obeidallah did add that Trump's stance has united people together in terms of realising that it's everyone against the atrocities inflicted by ISIS [now increasingly being referred to as Daesh], and not everyone against Islam.

Trump also loves immigrant women!

All three of Trump's wives were immigrants. Trump's mother and his paternal grandfather were immigrants. Some would say that Donald Trump's views on immigration are somewhat hypocritical.

Donald Trump's racist family history

A news report published by the American Herald Tribune goes some way towards explaining Trump's anti-Muslim views, and anti-muslim US immigration policy. According to the story, which went to press on December 11, 2015, Trump's grandfather was a pimp and tax evader, while his father was a member of the notorious Ku Klux Klan (KKK) an extremist white supremacy group with a strong anti-immigration stance. The KKK was also anti-Semitic and anti-Black.

Trump's father Fred the son of German immigrants was also a wealthy real estate tycoon who refused to rent property to 'people of colour.' Trump senior's life consisted of numerous racist practices. Fred Trump was also involved in a KKK clash with police, which saw 100 'Klansmen' face off against 100 New York City Police officers in Queens, an altercation that made the New York Times on June 1, 1927.

Trump real estate business refused to rent property to coloured people

Fred Trump died at the age of 93 in 1999, and while his success received widespread recognition, he was mostly remembered for racial discrimination against potential tenants for his properties. It appears that Trump senior's racist 'legacy' has ingrained itself into Trump junior.

Donald Trump has often stated that he made his money 'the old-fashioned way,' the old-fashioned way perhaps meaning prospering from racism. In 1971, Trump (Donald) joined his father's racist real estate business.

Just two years later, the company was served with a civil rights lawsuit. It was filed against the Trump organization on the grounds that they refused to rent property to black people. An article published by Wayne Barrett in a 1979 edition of the Village Voice – a three-time Pulitzer Prize winning publication – exposed the racist rental policy of the Trump organization.

An excerpt from that article read: "Three doormen were told to discourage blacks who came seeking apartments when the manager was out, either by claiming no vacancies or hiking up the rents. A super said he was instructed to send black applicants to the central office but to accept white applications on site. Another rental agent said that Fred Trump had instructed him not to rent to blacks. Further, the agent said Trump wanted 'to decrease the number of black tenants' already in the development 'by encouraging them to locate housing elsewhere.'"

What the Village Voice article reveals is that Donald Trump's anti-Muslim, anti-immigration rants are not based on fact, but a legacy of men who trampled over other Americans to accumulate and secure their wealth. The question is, is this the man the American people want presiding over US immigration policy or leading their country?

Perhaps that's not the right question, the right question to ask is why does Donald Trump have the support of some sections of US society? Some commentators would argue that for all of Donald Trump's bigotry, there are unfortunately those that agree with him for the sake of seeing an overhaul to US immigration policy and that's a concern.
