Canadians this week are celebrating Canadian Citizenship week at special events throughout the Country. 4,700 people will become citizens, taking the Oath at more than 60 special citizenship ceremonies throughout the country.

On 17 October 2011 Immigration Minister Kenney in a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, awarded heraldic badges to citizenship judges. He also participated in a game show style event "Are You Smarter than a Tenth Grader."

Canadian immigration has invited Canadians and newcomers to conversations on Twitter and Facebook during Citizenship week. Canadian immigration mentioned in their recent news report that more than 600,000 copies of the citizenship study guide, Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Canadian Citizenship have been distributed.

In 2010 143,000 Canadian immigrants became citizens. Canadian citizenship is one of the best citizenships to have in the World. It allows visa free entry to many Countries around the World. In addition it is easier in many cases for Canadians to obtain US work visas compared to nationals of other Countries.
