US visa ban threat against yet another African state

Amid government unrest in yet another region of Africa, the US has threatened to ban US visa services for those found to be involved in sponsoring electoral violence. It’s understood that the US has said that it will ‘not hesitate to take action against anyone found guilty of undermining the Anambra governmental elections.

US employers have welcomed the news that research analysts will be added to the H1B visa speciality occupation list. A federal court in the Northern District of California recently approved a settlement under which United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agreed to classify ‘market research analyst’ as a speciality occupation.

 

Sanwar Ali: US COVID-19 UK and EU travel ban ends 8 November

By Sanwar Ali: The White House confirmed on Monday 25 October that all current COVID-19 travel bans will end from 12:01 am Eastern Standard Time on Monday 8 November 2021.  There will however be a new policy that will apply to everyone irrespective of nationality and place of residence.  The new policy will be based on vaccination status and whether or not the traveller has tested negative for COVID-19.

The US is reportedly considering adding Bulgaria, Cyprus, Romania and Israel to its Visa Waiver Program (VWP), US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas has announced.

 

In a statement, Mayorkas said: “We have four candidates in the pipeline: Israel, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania. We’re very, very focused on the program.”

US visa ‘homeless national’ decision slammed by Russia

Moscow has blasted the United States after Washington added Russian nationals seeking a US visa to a list of ‘homeless nationals’ who can apply for immigrant visas in third countries. The move by the US allows Russians to apply for a US visa in Warsaw, Poland instead of their home country.

 

Facebook settles over temporary US visa lawsuit

Facebook has settled with the US Department of Justice (DoJ), which filed a lawsuit over the social media giant’s recruitment of foreign workers on temporary US visas ahead of hiring American staff. 

 

The social media platform, founded by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, also settled separately with the US Department of Labor (DoL) over potential recruitment violations.
