Over a year has passed since the start of Putin's war of aggression against Ukraine. The conflict has left countless homes ruined and lives shattered, pushing millions of Ukrainians to abandon their homeland in search of sanctuary. Among these asylum seekers, more than 270,000 have found a haven in the United States. Their journey, however, is far from over as they navigate the labyrinth of immigration paperwork, cultural adaptation, and the longing for a home that may no longer exist.
