The number of people who have been infected by coronavirus COVID-19 in the UK is heading towards 50,000, with the number of people who have died in the UK heading towards 5,000.   These figures may very well be misleading.  The true figures may be much higher than this.  Even Boris Johnson the British Prime Minister has coronavirus and is currently in hospital for tests.

The way that Tier 2 visa migrants and others have been treated has been somewhat controversial. UK visa fees and other related fees are amongst the highest in the World and for many are unaffordable.  UK visa applicants in effect have to pay twice for health care. 

There were a number of complaints that the previous policy for those wishing to stay in the UK due to the coronavirus COVID-19 related travel restrictions, was limited to Chinese nationals.

Fortunately, since this report initially came out, UK visa policy has changed and now all foreign nationals whose visa expires between 24 January 2020 and 31 May 2020 and who are unable to return home, can stay longer until 31 May 2020.  The previous policy only covered Chinese nationals.

Being able to extend your UK visa to 31 May 2020 easily, must be an enormous relief to many overseas nationals currently in the UK who will have difficulty travelling out of the UK.  Those who need to extend their visa should contact the UK visa COVID-19 immigration team via this email address

Already, even before the new UK visa points system has been implemented there are problems!  As numerous people have commented, you need to allow “low skilled” workers into the UK.  The coronavirus has demonstrated the significant need for such people.
