An investment made via the UK’s Tier 1 entrepreneur visa scheme has helped to secure the long-term future of a British-based business. Oriental Rugs of Bath, a handmade rugs and craft business, based in Bath, Somerset received significant investment from China.

Up to 1,000 Irish truck drivers are wanted in New Zealand by recruitment firm, Canstaff. Canstaff claims that New Zealand is struggling to fill driving vacancies internally because young people not attracted to a career in haulage. They offer a relocation package aimed at tackling a shortage of heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers.  Irish truck drivers will have to apply for a Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) work visa.

The government of Ireland has announced the launch of a new work visa application process for non-EU/EEA nurses who have a contract of employment in the country. The new process will require non-EU/EEA nurses to apply for entry to Ireland via the Atypical Working Scheme.

A Palestinian scholarship student may have his offer to study at Goldsmiths university on a Tier 4 UK student visa withdrawn thanks to exit visa delays from the Israeli government.

Mohammed Awad had accepted a full scholarship to study an MA in Multilingualism, Linguistics, & Education at Goldsmiths, University of London, starting on October 1.

But delays by Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (Cogat), the Israeli body which oversees the government of occupied Palestine, means that the 28 year old is still stuck in Gaza without an exit visa, just days before term starts.
