On 30 October 2009 Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, put forward Citizenship and Immigration Canada's 2009 Annual Report.

Under Section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 which comes into force on 2 November 2009 UK immigration is required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The Home Secretary must make arrangements to ensure the welfare of children when carrying out immigration, asylum nationality and customs functions. The Director of Border Revenue is also required to do the same when carrying out the Director's functions.

The governments of Denmark and Russia have signed a bilateral agreement to facilitate visa issuance for citizens of both nations.

The agreement will remove the need for visas for citizens with diplomatic passports and simplify documentation requirements for the issuance of visas. It will also be possible for citizens of Denmark and Russia to receive long-term multiple-entry visas.

On 19 October 2009 USCIS Bangkok District Deputy Director Stacy Strong and Seoul Field Office Director Kenneth Sherman visited the aircraft carrier USS George Washington to enable nine sailors to complete the naturalization process. The two USCIS officers held interviews and made it possible for the nine sailors to take the naturalization tests. The nine sailors were originally from China, the Dominican Republic, Guinea, Jamaica, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom.

This week will see citizenship ceremonies throughout Canada as the Country celebrates citizenship week. During the week hundreds of people will become Canadian citizens and hundreds of Canadians will reaffirm their commitment to the Country.

Earlier this month the UN ranked Australia as second in the World for quality of life. Norway is ranked number one at the moment. Australia could very well end up as number one for quality of life in next year's report. In Australia over a period of a year life expectancy went up three months and income rose four percent.
