Skilled migrants that come to New Zealand under the Work to Residency program will have more time to find employment, according to Immigration Minister David Cunliffe.

"We have listened and acted on the considerable feedback from the migrant community regarding the time that some prospective migrants need to come here and find a skilled position," said Cunliffe.

The United Kingdom announced a new program called the International Graduates Scheme (IGS) on 28 March 2007. It will enable international students to stay in the UK for a year to work after completing their studies.

Britain's outgoing Prime Minister, Tony Blair, announced a shake-up of Home Office responsibilities and divisions on 29 March 2007. In addition to its role in police service, crime reduction, immigration and asylum, and identity and passports, the Home Office will now have a stronger role in dealing with the threat of terrorism. A new department, the Ministry of Justice, will also be created.

The United States government will be accepting H-1B petitions starting on 02 April 2007. The new petitions will be subject to the fiscal year 2008 (FY 2008) cap.
