The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has decided that the Central Institute and Polytechnic West should spearhead the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) in Western Australia. The AMEP is a special program designed to encourage English language training for migrants across Australia.

Western Australia has recently made a push for increased immigration to help head off gaps in its labour market. The Australia state is aggressively recruiting skilled overseas workers; The State also realizes that English language is an important part of a newcomer's ability to integrate into Australian society.

The new AMEP business model will deliver services such as settlement guidance both during a client's time in the program and as they exit.

Changes to the AMEP business model will mean increased educational and vocational Counseling. More help will be provided to migrants to further their studies in English as a second language (ESL) courses. More help will also be provided to migrants in the areas of education, employment and vocational training.

The program is offered in about 250 locations around Australia. Free childcare is also offered.
