There is widespread confusion over the changes in the minimum points required for a Tier 2 Restricted CoS.  The Government Restricted Certificate of Sponsorship CoS points scoring for salary has changed, with one point awarded per £1,000 in salary. 

It seems that most people agree that if the salary rate is set too high under a new UK visa system it will be unaffordable to many employers.  If there is a No-Deal Brexit then this may be an urgent issue.  Then free movement will end quickly.  If there is a deal on Brexit then it may be some years before the end of free movement.  There still seems to be a number of issues with future plans for migration policy after Brexit.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson says that he wants to make sure that the UK visa system attracts ‘the very best minds from around the world’.  He says that he wants more researchers and specialists working in science, engineering and technology.

Even if the Judicial Review application is successful it is frequently not an effective remedy.  It just means that the Government has to reconsider its decision.  The Government may decide to keep the legislation as it is. 

It seems that much of the time Ministers are appointed and sacked more for political reasons than based on whether or not they are likely to do a good job.  Therefore, supporters of Boris Johnson are appointed to the highest ranks in the Cabinet and those who supported Jeremy Hunt are likely to be sacked.   

CAGE is a controversial human rights organisation. However, some of the remarks made by Sajid Javid when he was Home Secretary could be considered to be misleading.  CAGE have said that Mohammed Emwazi also known as Jihadi John should be tried as a War Criminal.
