UK Visa and Immigration made several changes to UK immigration rules that came into effect on 6 July, 2018. Several immigration categories have been affected, but headline changes to Tier 2 visa rules have undoubtedly been recognised as the most significant.

The UK Visa and Immigration changes, Home Office changes from 6 July 2018 now meant that non-EU doctors and nurses are exempt from the UK Tier 2 visa cap. This also makes it much easier for other skilled level people to enter the UK. As part of long-term government plans for the NHS, there will be no restriction on the number of foreign doctors and nurses that can be hired from outside the European Union (EU) via the Tier 2 visa route.

The UK visa status of hundreds of foreign nationals in the UK is in turmoil after vital personal papers were lost by UK Visas and Immigration at the Home Office some months ago. A spate of incidents involving vanishing files has led to calls for the government agency to overhaul the way it handles documents.
