New chief of staff for US Visa US Customs and Border Protection formerly head of “Hate Group” called FAIR

Julie Kirchner, the former executive director of anti-immigrant organization FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) referred to by the Southern Poverty Law Center as being a “Hate Group” has been installed as the new chief of staff at US Visa US customs and border protection (CBP) by the Trump administration, in a move that seems to suggest that the President fully intends to stick to promises made to anti-immigrant supporters.  Many would say that the restrictions on US visas advocated by FAIR are extreme.

This shows the depth of feeling that people have against ICE.  Under Donald Trump there have been deep divisions in US society.  Unfortunately, this sort of behaviour as a protest may have serious consequences.  If Biden wins the presidential elections as many expect, perhaps he will be a less divisive president.

This is not surprising.  Huge amounts of money are wasted on government contracts.  Care is not always taken to make sure that suppliers offer value for money.  Is the expense of running the current system of immigration enforcement worth it?

We understand that the visa changes are relating to permanent immigrant visas.   The greatest concern for Chinese citizens is likely to be the wait time for Green Card applications which can be many years under the quota system.  This is the main thing that will no doubt put off many Chinese people from applying.  It remains to be seen
