The Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper attended the event.. Mr Kenney was honoured by the Israeli university for 'his steadfast position against anti-Semitism, racism and intolerance'.

The results of the 2011 census showed that there were nearly 280,000 people who spoke Tagalog at home living in Canada. In 2006, there were only 170,000 Tagalog speakers.
