Temporary Work International Agreement visa
The Temporary Work International Agreement visa category, formerly Tier 5 visa, is for people coming to the UK under contract to do work that is covered under international law. In order to apply under this category you must have a valid Temporary Work certificate of sponsorship from a licensed Temporary Work sponsor organisation.
Work covered by this visa includes:
the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS);
similar agreements between the UK and another country;
employees of overseas governments and international organisations; and
private servants in diplomatic households.
Length of stay
Visa applicants under the Temporary Work International Agreement visa category, who are overseas government employees or private servants in a diplomatic household can stay in the UK for up to 2 years.
For a contractual service supplier or independent professional, you can only stay in the UK for the following periods:
- 12 months if providing a service under the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement
- 12 months in any 24 month period if providing a service under the Temporary agreement between the Swiss Confederation (Switzerland) and the UK on services mobility
- 6 months in any 12 month period in other cases
Temporary Work International agreement visa applicants must have funds of at least £1,270, unless their Temporary Work sponsor can guarantee their maintenance with the UK Home Office. Only 'A rated' sponsors have this option.
